The game that I have played for the longest so far May 5, 2004 Soccer crazy (Chicago, IL USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Let me tell all the gruntlers here: This game is not for people who are 1) impatient and 2) poor who cannot afford the HDD (Hard Disk Drive) AND the strategy guide. People who complain about the tough controls scheme are new to the game and have no patience in mastering it. They don't realize that if you become a pro, you will soon love this game. I have owned and played about 15 titles of a great variety for PS2 so far (I just bought my PS2 early this year), and this one is the only one that I have played for more than a month non-stop and am still playing mostly online. The replay value is very high particularly on the network mode if you are interested in challenging various national records in clear time and result points. The process of getting alternate costumes for characters is grueling, but satisfying after you have done it. Interacting and cooperating with other players online is where the fun in this game lies in. Even though there is no headset communication, I find this missing feature helps the game become more challenging. The strategy guide is a MUST-READ for this game. Don't play this game if you don't have the strategy guide since you will easily find no way out and don't know what to do while playing without it. The thing that I wish most is that they could have put more scenarios on it than the current 5 because 5 scenarios only is fewer than desirable.
It was worth it to me! April 8, 2004 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I'm warning you, there is boring stuff that you might not want to read... but anyways... First of all, I havn't played much of the Resident Evil seris, just the GameCube remake and number 2 + 3 on playstation. But some of my friends love Resident Evil, and were exicted to get this game. I was wondering what was it about these games they liked. About two weeks ago whenever one of my friends bought the only Resident Evil he didn't have (RE3: Nemesis). I had played the game with him, and I was hooked almost instantly. I finally went online to research about the RE seris, and most of what I have been reading about it was good. And I was thinking, maybe I might get Outbreak also. This past weekend when it came out, another friend of mine (Who is hooked on RE) and me went to EBgames and we both bought our own copies. Before I bought it though I was having some problems, I coudn't decided if I wanted to get it. I had a feeling that this good be fifty dollars on a game I would deslike. But I just said yes... And it was probably one of the best decisions I have ever made! This game is fun offline or online (prefer online more though). You can choose of eight characters in many differnet levels also... This is one of my most favorite games of all time. The best (of only three online games I have) online game I have. For me it is hard to explain the game, so if you want to know how the game is, buy it... or simply rent it, but I think it is worth the fifty dollars I spent on it... (...)

In a word this game is awesome. anyone who doesnt buy this game is not a smart game player. This is harder than all other resident evils and is ultimatly more rewarding. It takes time to master, but once you do this game is freaking awesome.
